Cancer Guidance Support for Patients at Theagenio Hospital & Support for Elderly Affected by Fires in the Municipality of Acharnes-Varimpompi
The grant regards the set-up of a subsidiary office at one of the largest oncological hospitals in Northern Greece, the Theagenio. At the hospital, KAPA3 staff and volunteers will process patient applications for submission to the relevant municipalities. By setting up a subsidiary office within the hospital, at the central node where patients receive their diagnosis and/or treatment, the hospital can extend the health care they provide their patients from purely physical treatment, to social care as well. In this way, patients will be able to be directed towards services so that they can receive benefits.
The second axis of the grant entails KAPA3 aiding elderly in the Municipality of Acharnes-Varimpopi in navigating the process for applying for government aid for those affected by the fires. With the assistance of the Municipality, KAPA3 will provide a social worker who will identify elderly requiring support and will assist them in processing their applications.
