New Program Creation: “Wise, Friends, Together at the Museum” – Museum of Cycladic Art – Nicholas and Dolly Goulandris Foundation

The Museum of Cycladic Art - Nicholas and Dolly Goulandris Foundation has created, through a grant of the TIMA Charitable Foundation, a multi-faceted program for the accessibility of elderly visitors to the Museum.

The program will strive to improve the accessibility of the Museum for elderly visitors through 3 main pillars: a) specialized equipment for physical accessibility improvements; b) education and simulation training of the Museum’s personnel on matters related to elderly visitors by gerontologists; c) guided visits to 1,500 senior visitors of the Open Protection Centers for the Elderly of the Municipality of Athens.

The “Wise Friends, Together at the Museum” program is part of the umbrella program, “Together at the Museum”, that aims to increase the number of vulnerable groups visiting the museum, including mentally and physically disabled adult groups, the homeless, seniors, and children with special needs. The Museum of Cycladic Art is the first museum in Greece to implement an accessibility program for elderly visitors.
