The Association offers several programs and activities with the goal of improving the quality of life of the mentally disabled who live with their families or supporting environment, avoiding institutionalization and enabling better social integration of the elderly.

Care at Home Program for Persons with Dementia

 

The grant regards an 18-month program covering care-at-home services to families with cases of dementia who need education and information on dealing with the disease. The program will offer professional, medical and psychological support, as well as training for the patient’s better care, especially in cases where the patient is bed-ridden.  Families will also receive legal, insurance and other financial consulting. The beneficiaries will be the 120 families receiving the care at home services as well as another 120 people in and around Serres who will benefit from related services, such as detection of dementia through memory tests, mental empowerment groups, and creative employment.
