Program Expansion: “Wise, Friends, Together at the Museum” – Museum of Cycladic Art – Nicholas and Dolly Goulandris Foundation

In 2016, the Museum of Cycladic Art - Nicholas and Dolly Goulandris Foundation created, through a grant of the TIMA Charitable Foundation, a multi-faceted program for the accessibility of elderly visitors to the Museum.

The program brought more than 5,000 senior visitors of the Open Protection Centers for the Elderly (OPCEs) of the Municipality of Athens to the Museum. In 2019, through co-funding with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the program will be expanded for two years. The program will now include weekly visits for seniors from the OPCEs to the Museum followed by educational workshops entitled “Playing with Memories” that aim to familiarize the seniors with the concept of toys in Ancient Greece and activate their personal memories. Additionally, weekly educational workshops in non-profit care homes will take place with the aim of enriching the lives of seniors that cannot visit the Museum. These workshops will be implemented in partnership with Seveneleven Theater Company.
