New Program creation – “Nestor” Psychogeriatric Association

Nestor Psychogeriatric Association has created a "Care at Home" program for newly diagnosed dementia patients, through a grant of the TIMA Charitable Foundation.

This program encompasses home visits by a psychologist and occupational therapist. The psychologist offers psychological support to both patients and caregivers. The occupational therapist provides information regarding creative activities at home and aids with dementia related changes in the living environment of those concerned.

This program was created in response to the lack of services offered to newly diagnosed dementia patients in their own home as well as to the increase in accidents occurring in their living space. The program’s goal is to prolong the presence of dementia patients in their home, thus avoiding institutionalization.
