Odyssea’s mission is to ensure youth have equal opportunities in society, by harnessing the power of knowledge through training for professional rehabilitation and personal development. The organization provides tailored vocational training and life skills development combined with employability services and enables them to reach their full potential.

Two Vocational Training Programs

The grant regards the creation of two vocational training programs, entitled “Carer for the Elderly” and “Health Service Advisor”. Odyssea will train vulnerable people to secure a job in a field that lacks qualified personnel. The programs will be free of charge for participants. Upon completion of the training, graduates will be linked to corresponding jobs identified by Odyssea through the organizations’ network of partner companies. The “Carer for the Elderly” program will provide support to elderly individuals who are unable to attend to their basic needs. A caregiver may provide a range of services that include meal preparation, housekeeping, medication monitoring, and of course companionship. Through the “Health Service Advisor” program, counsellors take on the role of serving vulnerable older people in relation to health issues, guiding them physically and digitally towards the appropriate option to resolve each issue. They facilitate access to health and insurance services and undertake verbal or written communication where the person is unable to do so.

The vocational training programs have two aims: To support vulnerable youth in developing skills for employment and creating a pool of caregivers and digital health consultants who can support the elderly, whether in an institutional or private setting. A total of forty youth will be trained for the two programs who will go on to serve many more elderly throughout their chosen careers as caregivers.
