SciFY is active along 4 axes: a) Assistive Technologies for persons with disabilities (such as games for blind children); b) E-democracy solutions (such as strengthening the public consultation); c) Organizational Intelligence (such as automatic export of abstracts); d) Support of Civil Society (such as tools for the strengthening of volunteers). SciFy utilizes its know-how in artificial intelligence and other information technologies as well as its network of partners (research centers, universities, etc.) in order to develop solutions. In 2015, SciFy’s direct beneficiaries were 8,500 persons.
Mobile Application for Dementia
The grant regards the development of an educational application for android smartphones and tablets that will allow caregivers of persons with dementia as well as health professionals to learn and apply simple techniques of non-pharmaceutical interventions. The application will describe the interventions, give concrete instructions, and will also show particular examples with videos so that learning can be facilitated and applied to real life situations. The specialized educational content will be based on work that has been done by the Athens Association of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders. It is estimated that through the broad network of Alzheimer’s disease caregivers and health professionals, the number of beneficiaries (users of the application) could reach up to 10,000.
