Iasis NGO’s beneficiaries include people with mental health problems and mental disabilities, the homeless, physically abused women, asylum seekers, and children at risk. The organization has various services, namely: operating facilities that provide psychiatric care to adults with mental health problems, awareness-raising for the public regarding the issues faced by the above vulnerable groups, training of health professionals on mental health matters, and participating in research programs. In addition to this, Iasis operates a “Specialized Care Home for Mental Health Patients”, hosting 15 persons, 7 of which are seniors. All have psychological disorders and serious psychosocial problems. The purpose of the care home is the psychosocial rehabilitation of its beneficiaries, through the acquisition of skills and abilities for living independently.

The grant regards the acquisition of a 9-seat van that will serve for the transport of the Specialized Care Home’s residents, thus significantly reducing the operating expenses of Iasis NGO. The van will mainly be used for the following reasons: transporting residents to hospitals, doctors, diagnostic centers; accompanying residents to social services; recreational activities such as excursions. At the present time, transportation is covered using private employee cars as well as taxis, resulting in high transportation expenses, which will be significantly reduced by the acquisition of the vehicle.
