Agios Pavlos hospital is located in the eastern part of Thessaloniki, covering an area of 300,000 inhabitants. The Hospital’s Cardiology Clinic performs all major cardiological treatments. In 2017, over 8,500 patients visited the Clinic, 60% of whom were over the age of 65.
The grant regards the purchase of medical equipment needed to treat arrhythmias. More specifically, the requested equipment will be used to correct heart rhythm problems through a treatment called cardiac ablation. Cardiac ablation can sometimes be performed through open-heart surgery, but when equipment is used instead, the procedure is less invasive and with shorter recovery times. The direct beneficiaries are 200 patients from the Thessaloniki region who will be treated for arrhythmia through cardiac ablation per year.
