The Association’s main goals are: the provision of assistance to patients with dementia using non-pharmaceutical interventions, counseling for caregivers of individuals with dementia, awareness-raising of the general population reducing social stigma surrounding the disease, participation in research programs, training of health professionals and the publication of relevant articles in various journals. Additionally, the Association regularly conducts memory testing for seniors and provides cognitive training to seniors in the KAPI of Larisa Prefecture as well as to elderly residents living in care homes in Larisa, Trikala, and Karditsa.
Continuation of a Multi-Faceted Program for Individuals with Dementia, Individuals with Mild Cognitive Deficiencies, and their Caregivers
The grant regards the continuation of a multi-faceted program serving several beneficiary groups. Individuals with dementia and their caregivers will receive a variety of care at home services by health professionals, such as nursing, physical therapy, psychological support, mental strengthening, and will also be trained in using digital tools to take advantage of services daily. For example, the beneficiaries will be trained in the use of tablets as a tool for mental strengthening sessions. Memory testing will be offered to seniors with mild cognitive deficiencies, along with information on healthy ageing and dementia prevention. Similar interventions will be provided to elderly residing in 2 care homes, the Larisa and Karditsa Care Homes.
