The University General Hospital of Thessaloniki A.H.E.P.A., through a grant of the TIMA Charitable Foundation, acquired a new ultrasound machine for its Radiology Laboratory.

The University General Hospital of Thessaloniki A.H.E.P.A. is one of the biggest hospitals in Greece, with a capacity of 680 beds and covers almost all medical sectors. Since 1958, the Radiology Laboratory of the Hospital is the only University Radiology Laborato-ry in Thessaloniki and research is performed through the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The Laboratory has 7 sub-departments, including the Ultra-sound Department, the CAT Scan Department, and the MRI Department, among others. The new ultrasound machine acquired is an upgrade for the Laboratory, which operated 3 older technology ultrasound machines that were not fully functional. The new machine is one of the most complete ultrasound technology systems available in a public hospital in Thessaloniki. Through this grant, specialized examinations and the electronic archiving of exams are now possible. It is estimated that 450 adults and 350 elderly persons will be examined using the machine in the next year.
