Ithaca’s primary goal is to increase the social and work integration of homeless people and vulnerable groups. To achieve this, it has developed activities around 3 main pillars:
1. Direct Relief
2. Employment
3. Awareness raising
Through the operation of the Mobile Laundry Unit, which operates daily in Attica, the organization has served more than 8,000 beneficiaries, who have made more than 27,000 visits and received more than 130 tons of clean, washed clothes. At the same time, Ithaca organizes activities to distribute basic items of need. Ithaca Laundry has also been running a reintegration and empowerment program since 2017, by hiring beneficiaries into the laundry, which aims to reintegrate people who experience social exclusion and long-term unemployment conditions. In 2021 Ithaca extended the program with the aim of supporting a greater number of people, and began providing job counseling sessions aimed at finding work for beneficiaries in partner companies and institutions. Last, Ithaca advocates and raises awareness on themes around the right to housing.
