Myrtillo’s first endeavor is the operation of Myrtillo Café. Myrtillo Café is a training project for people with learning disabilities. Its main aims are to help them improve their confidence, teach them transferable skills in a real work environment, and assist them in moving into paid employment within mainstream workplaces. At least 40% of the Café’s paid staff and all of the trainees are people with learning disabilities. In addition to being a training environment, Myrtillo Café operates as a traditional café and as a recreational space.
