The Doctors of the World polyclinics are directed to people who lack access to the National Health Care and its mobile medical units visit geographically isolated areas and perform diagnostic and preventive examinations on local residents.

Medical and Psychological Support of Isolated and Vulnerable Individuals 60+

The grant regards the continuation and expansion of the Active and Healthy Ageing 60+ program across four municipalities in Attica: Athens, Perama, Alimos, and Oropos.  This particular program was supported by TIMA in 2020, 2021, and 2023.

The program will provide support to the elderly beneficiaries from a gerontologist, psychologist, and social worker who will oversee each individual’s specific needs. Free medicine will be provided and in some cases food packages to particularly vulnerable elderly will be directly delivered to their homes. A key feature of this program is a non-invasive digital AGE Reader measuring biological ageing markers and providing individual health risk profiles for the elderly beneficiaries. In addition, workshops will be held in self-care covering physical exercise, chronic disease management, and healthy ageing practices. Lastly, frontline municipal workers will attend professional training events, building local capacity to sustain services beyond the program. 700 seniors will participate in healthy ageing workshops and receive an individualized health profile, 70 vulnerable seniors will receive direct health care, and 40 frontline municipal workers will receive professional training, creating a level of sustainability to the program.
