“Count on me” Program

Some of the programs currently offered are: a. “Red Button”, a personal alarm system; b. “Volunteer Neighbor”, a program whereby volunteers perform home visits to elders in order to assist with their daily needs; c. National Blood Bank for senior citizens; d. “Silver Alert Hellas”, the National Coordination Program broadcasting information about missing seniors and assisting in their safe return; e. National SOS Line 1065, for elders’ mistreatment and abuse allegations; and f. “Every day by their side”, the provision of monthly food packages to 300 seniors in need. These programs, in addition to Life Line’s social department provide elders security, dignity and social integration.

The grant regards the implementation of the “Count on me” program that provides free accounting services to elders in order to electronically file their tax returns; a mandatory process since 2013. The Program is aimed at elders who do not have the financial capacity or the ability to access the internet for the filing of their tax returns.
