The Arta Music School was founded in 2009 with the aim to teach children of the Arta prefecture musical education. In 2013, the Arta Music School was one of 42 public music schools in Greece. During its first 4 years of operation, the School grew from 11 to 33 to 74 to 120 children, showcasing the demand for musical education. In November 2012, the Arta Music School received the 3rd place award in the category of “Generations @ School” for the “European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012”. The award winning “Two Generations at School” program involves a series of recreational and informative activities performed by the school’s students and by their grandparents. During the academic year 2012 – 2013, the program was expanded to include the elders residing at the Arta Care Home.

The grant regards the purchase of musical instruments and equipment for the school’s daily educational needs as well as for the continuation of the “Two Generations at School” program.
