In the aftermath of Storm Daniel in the fall of 2023, Ambelli has been delivering disaster relief and has connected with impacted communities to provide support and aid. Ambelli has delivered water, food, economic aid, and infrastructure support to the most vulnerable communities in the region outside of Trikala. The organization launched soup kitchens in Pyli village near Trikala as well as Trikala town.
Continuation of Program for Flood-Stricken Individuals in Thessaly
The grant regards two projects: Project Nourish and Project Empower.
Project Nourish consists of a soup kitchen initiative operating out of the municipalities of Pyli and Trikala that will provide daily meals to seniors and their families who are struggling with poverty and have been impacted by Storm Daniel. Approximately 11 months of food aid will be provided for 200 seniors.
Project Empower entails a series of psychological support workshops, empowering elderly flood victims with knowledge and techniques to optimize their mental and physical health. The workshops will take place in Trikala and Karditsa in collaboration with the Open Protection Centers for the Elderly and St. Nicholas Home for the Elderly in Megala Kalyvia, Trikala and approximately 100 seniors will participate.
