HIGGS (Higher Incubator Giving Growth & Sustainability) was founded in 2015 with the purpose of strengthening nonprofit organizations in Greece through the provision of consulting services and educational programs.

Social Impact Assessment Training

The services that HIGGS provides are as follows: a) Incubator: a capacity-building program of maximum duration of 24 months, for newly founded organizations or ones that are in the process of being established; b) Accelerator: 4-month capacity-building program that is directed to existing small or midsized nonprofit organizations; c) Recharge: a new service of 6-month duration for nonprofits that need to upgrade and modernize their operations; d) Point: the provision of HIGGS’s premises for philanthropic events, art and culture initiatives, educational seminars, book presentations and documentary viewings; e) organization of conferences and seminars including an NGO fair; f) evaluation of programs and projects; g) individualized training and consulting.

Capacity-Building

 

The grant regards the creation of a pilot program offering tailor made training and consulting services to 5 Attica care homes for 8 months. The aim of the program is to strengthen the care homes in order render to them sustainable while helping them improve the quality of care offered to their elderly residents. The custom-built training and consulting services will be of two general topics: gerontology and administration. For the implementation of the program, the governance, management and staff of the care home will be actively involved. A steering committee will be formed for each care home comprised of governance and management members in order to better identify the individual needs and to monitor the effectiveness of the services offered by the program.
