In response to an earthquake that hit the island of Kefalonia in January of 2014, Desmos initiated a process of meeting as many local needs as possible.
During this process, Desmos identified the need of the Municipal Care Home of Argostoli for new beds for its bedridden residents. The TIMA Charitable Foundation awarded this emergency relief grant in response to this essential need of the earthquake victims of Kefalonia.
The Municipal Care Home of Argostoli is the oldest legal entity of the Municipality of Kefalonia and it has been operating since 1912. It provides free shelter, food and medical care to senior residents. It currently accommodates 72 elders and provides food to 40 people in need under its “Help at Home” program.
