The grant regards the continuation of a program, which had originally received funding from the 2016 “Points of Support”. In 2018, TIMA supported the program with a 12-month grant that aimed to meet the needs of approximately 35 senior citizens who live on the streets of the greater area of Piraeus. The 2020 extension of the program involves the psychosocial support of senior and elderly citizens living in street conditions, as well as providing them with legal and accounting advisory so that they can receive social welfare benefits. Emfasis will also focus on training relevant municipalities and creating a strong network with the relevant authorities in order to ensure that future homeless cases will not simply be turned away but processed, with the support of Emfasis, when necessary. The continuous psychological strengthening of the elderly persons who live on the street, the reduction of their sense of abandonment and isolation from society, and the enhancement of their self-respect are all additional goals of the program.
