With over 25 years of documented action across Greece, Butterfly Bone Health Society is the only recognized association dedicated to public education on skeletal health and prevention of related diseases. The organization collaborates with scientific societies and the University of Athens Medical School on epidemiological research. Butterfly Bone Health Society has provided thousands of tests nationwide, diagnosing over 34,000 individuals with osteopenia and over 22,000 with osteoporosis.

Vehicle & Software

The grant regards the provision of a van that will bring bone density testing equipment and specialized physicians to isolated villages across Greece. Τhe software is an added-value to the ultrasound that  TIMA had granted and will enhance the portable bone density equipment that has served over 1,300 people to date. The upgrade adds two critical diagnostic functions: a) EchoStudio Body Composition for body composition and metabolic rate analysis; b) EchoStudio Fragility Score – a globally unique application providing bone micro-architecture assessment and fracture risk evaluation. The van and medical software complement each other as the organization will continue to travel to isolated regions while providing even more comprehensive assessments to elderly populations across Greece.
