Global Brigades also started a dental program in 2024. Additionally, besides the medical services that Global Brigades offers at the Polyclinic, the organization provides education on topics related to prevention and health promotion.

Ophthalmological Care Program for Vulnerable Seniors

The grant regards regards a free eye care program for vulnerable senior citizens. This initiative addresses a critical gap in accessible eye care for this demographic, ensuring that seniors receive essential screenings to detect vision impairments and early signs of conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and stroke-related eye disease. The program will be directed to vulnerable senior citizens who face financial constraints, mobility challenges, or lack access to regular healthcare services. The Mobile Ophthalmology Unit of Global Brigades will collaborate with the Open Protection Centers for the Elderly (OPCEs), local NGOs, and the Municipality of Athens to reach this group and provide comprehensive ophthalmology services. Approximately 1,000 eye screenings will be conducted; individuals requiring further treatment will be referred to the Global Brigades Polyclinic in Metaxourgeio. Transportation for these individuals will be fully covered by the program, removing access barriers. Lastly, Global Brigades will conduct workshops focusing on health literacy and digital skills for the elderly.
