Doctors of the World - Medical and Psychological Support of Isolated and Vulnerable individuals 60+

The grant regards a care at home program to cover a variety of needs for isolated and vulnerable elderly individuals in the periphery of Attika. The program offers

  1. The provision of medical and psychosocial support services by telephone for elderly over 60 who are isolated and have no family support. Doctors from Doctors of the World provide medical advice whilst psychologists and social workers support the elderly in dealing with their isolation and their own particular circumstances.

  2. The delivery of medicine to the elderly and especially those who are financially vulnerable to ensure they continue to receive the medicines they require whilst preventing them from having to line up in queues at pharmacies.

  3. An innovative program which connects the elderly for virtual meetings. The pilot project connects virtual teams and are led by a member of staff from the Doctors of the World. The tablets provided and the technology are easy to use and suitable for the elderly, with the aim of connecting isolated individuals even post-Covid
