The Asylo Aniaton of Patra began operating in 1958 and is a social structure for the chronically ill. The organization’s aim is to provide care for persons who suffer from chronic and incurable diseases. While the Asylo Aniaton accepts chronically ill patients of all ages, the great majority of its residents are seniors. It has 120 beds and all are full at the present time, with 80 persons on the waitlist. Its residents suffer from a wide variety of chronic diseases such as multiple sclerosis, paraplegy, brain disease, dementia, Parkinson’s, and approximately 80 patients are bed-ridden. The Asylo Aniaton of Patra has a staff of 64 and, according to resident needs, kinesiotherapy and physiotherapy is provided, along with daily medical care.
The grant regards the provision of new beds for the residents.
