The Unit receives patients for bone marrow transplant from across the country and mainly from Western Greece, the Ionian Islands and Cyprus. It is one of the three Bone Marrow Transplant Units for Adults in Greece together with those which operate in Evangelismos Hospital of Athens and G. Papanikolaou Hospital of Thessaloniki.
The grant regards the purchase of medical equipment, namely a Glove Box. A Glove Box provides a clean space for the preservation and processing of transplant cells. The Glove Box will increase the quality of the healthcare and decrease the mortality rate, while also ensuring the Unit’s accordance with international standards.
