Zoodohos Pigi was founded in 2011 with the aim to satisfy people in need and NGOs through in-kind and cash donations. Zoodohos Pigi’s activities are: financial support to people in need, donations to nonprofits mainly in the field of health and education, and the Mousikoparea Music Therapy Program. Zoodohos Pigi functions both as a foundation granting donations and as a nonprofit organization designing and implementing programs. Mousikoparea Music Therapy Program was launched as a pilot program in July 2016 and involves the provision of music therapy sessions to care homes. Music therapy is an evidence-based clinical intervention that addresses the cognitive, emotional, physical, mental and social needs of the elderly.
The grant regards the expansion of the Mousikoparea Program so as to include 7 nonprofit care homes, increasing the Program’s recipients to 18. Each of the 7 additional care homes is located in a different city - Attica, Thessaloniki, Patra, Edessa, Lefkada, Syros, Crete. The therapists chosen are unemployed professionals. Music therapy students also attend the sessions in order to gain valuable exposure to the benefits of music therapy.
