Desmos was founded in 2012 with the aim to utilize surplus products and services to meet the basic needs of vulnerable groups and individuals. Desmos communicates with organizations in Athens and Thessaloniki and records their immediate and long term needs. At the same time, it tries to meet these needs by reaching out to companies. It also coordinates the collection and distribution of these goods to accredited destinations. Some of the product categories that meet the needs of groups and individuals are: packaged food products, clothes, electrical appliances, furniture and school supplies. Desmos also raises social awareness on the importance of giving and reducing waste. Its ultimate objective is to create solidarity networks and reduce wastage.
