Xanthi Care Home “Megas Vasileios”
The Xanthi Care Home “Megas Vasileios” was founded in 1964 with the aim to provide shelter and care to the elderly residents of Xanthi. The Care Home accommodates 53 elders out of which 20 are bedridden. With a capacity of 74, it only accepts autonomous elders but provides the necessary nursing in case an elder loses his/her autonomy while at the Home. The Xanthi Care Home employs a full-time staff of 22. The presence of a psychologist showcases the Care Home’s emphasis on the provision of all-inclusive care including psychological support.
The grant regards the exterior insulation of the Home’s building that will render it more energy efficient. More specifically, with the exterior insulation, the heating costs of the Home are estimated to decrease by approximately 23%. Given that Xanthi is located in the northern part of Greece, the winter months are significantly colder compared to the rest of the country. In addition to the building’s insulation, the grant covers a portion of the Care Home’s heating costs as well.
