The Metropolis of Kisamos and Selinon was founded in 1860 in western Crete. The metropolitan region covers Kisamos and Selinon, two western eparchies of the prefecture of Chania. This region has about 28,000 inhabitants with a high percentage of elders residing in villages. The Annousakeio Care Home and Rehabilitation Center was founded in 1970 with the aim to offer shelter to the elderly women of the Kisamos and Selinon regions. In 2015, about 90 elders were residing at the Care Home. Τhe Annousakeio Care Home is divided in 2 wings: one that specializes in dementia and one that operates as a traditional care home. Additionally, post hospitalization care is offered to patients through the Rehabilitation Center.
