PR.A.K.S.I.S, Programs of Development, Social Support and Medical Cooperation, was founded in 2004. Its aim is to combat the socio-economic exclusion of socially vulnerable groups, and to defend their civil and social rights, through the creation and implementation of humanitarian and medical programs. PRAKSIS has a presence in Athens, Thessaloniki, Patra and Lesvos, providing medical care, psychological support, legal advice, employment counselling and social support through a wide range of programs.
The grant regards the continuation of the “Safe at Home” Program, which aims at prolonging the safe and secure independent living of elders in their home. It offers certain modifications in the elders’ home thus limiting accidents and minimizing the risk of break-ins. In the interest of geographical diffusion, elderly residents in need of the Municipalities of Athens, Korydallos, Nikaia, Menidi, Agios Dimitrios, Moschato, Megara and Perama have been selected for the second phase of the program. An estimated 50 elderly recipients will benefit from the six-month phase of this grant.
