The Institute focuses on epidemiological research, preventive medicine, and health promotion programs targeting large population groups including children, workers, migrants, and elderly individuals. With over 35 years of experience, Prolepsis has participated as coordinator or partner in over 100 programs at national, European and international levels in research projects and health promotion programs. The Prolepsis Institute has been implementing the “Friendship at Every Age” program since 2019 and has engaged 505 beneficiaries and 634 volunteers from across Greece. Currently there are 300 beneficiaries and 216 volunteers actively participating.

Friendship for all Ages Program

 

The grant regards the continuation of the “Friendship for All Ages” program that commenced with a TIMA 2020 grant. TIMA’s grant will target lonely and socially secluded seniors . The seniors will be paired with trained volunteers and will speak weekly. Additionally, group activities will be organized, including creative workshops, themed walks, museum tours, and community events. Prolepsis will also operate a telephone line that will offer psychological support to lonely elderly. The volunteer training programs will be enhanced by new subjects and will include accident prevention, medication use, nutrition, and home exercise. The beneficiaries will include 80 isolated elderly individuals and 216 active volunteers, providing peer support and gaining valuable community engagement experience.
