Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitans

The Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitans is the umbrella organization of the Associations of the expatriate Greeks of Constantinople. It aims to revitalize the Greek orthodox community of Constantinople and to offer solidarity to Constantinopolitans in need. 98% of the Greeks of Constantinople are expatriated; 90% reside in Greece and the remaining 8% around the world.

The “Minas Tsitsakos” Solidarity Program was created in February 2014 as a result of the rising numbers of Constantinopolitans in need. Additionally, due to the Greek crisis, in November 2012, 500 elderly Constantinopolitans lost their pension. During the first year of the Solidarity Program’s operation, the Federation offered various goods and services to a total of 130 beneficiary families.

Program Support

The grant regards the continuation of the Solidarity program so as to offer food supplies, hygiene products, medication, and health-related equipment and supplies to families in need. The 2015 grant regarded the expansion of the Solidarity Program so as to include 50 families with an elderly relative living under the same roof, 45 in Athens and 5 in Thessaloniki. The 2016 grant targets the same 50 family recipients for 12 months.
